Bangkok Golden Restaurant Review: Finding a restaurant serving Laotian fare should not surprise anyone familiar with DC’s metro area, with its dozens and dozens of ethnic communities. What should be unexpected is this: Bangkok Golden, a small Thai establishment, has become a magnet for intrepid foodies who want to enjoy one of Asia’s least known and most exotic cuisines. You will find Thai selections, of course, but also appetizers such as Lao spicy sausage (reputedly the favorite of a long-ago Lao ruler), shrimp cakes with Lao curry and Lao curry puffs. We can recommend what follows, too: curries, grills and steamed dishes. But for those with an ever-curious palate, the best option is the Lao crispy rice salad, filled with layers of flavors and textures. Lunch buffets are available daily; dinner buffets on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
