Immediately embraced by its urban-chic neighborhood due east of the French Quarter, Bank Café is brimming with potential in both its menu and its space. The former incorporates Louisiana products with wide-ranging contemporary ideas, though only sometimes with success; a good bet is the straightforward osso buco. Fashioned from the old Canal Commercial Trust and Savings Bank, the space has high ceilings, hard surfaces and sprawling walls. A drink and an appetizer at the bar is also a good way to go at this hip and ambitious restaurant.
