THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Banyan Indonesian Restaurant Restaurant Review:
There are other Indonesian restaurants around the Los Angeles area with more wide-ranging menus, but none with the character and beauty of this elegantly- and creatively-decorated little restaurant. Owners Horace and Emily Tjakra are from the Riau Archipelago, and they feature local recipes as well as traditional Javanese cooking. Theyre slowly adding new items to the dozen combinations and the featured rijstaffel that are the core of the menu, so be sure to ask about new items and daily specials. The desserts and non-alcoholic drinks here are special---try the avocado smoothie or spicy ginger iced tea, or partake from the limited but well-chosen wine and beer list. If the weather is pleasant, dine on the nicely landscaped patio.
