THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Baobab Restaurant Review:

The city’s first West African restaurant is located on Portland’s North Park Blocks, a pleasant stretch of greenery in an otherwise urban environment. And like this mall of nature, Baobob’s Senegalese cuisine offers a refreshing break from the ordinary. The long, concrete dining room is brightened with batik wall hangings and African artifacts. The food, a marriage of the tropics and colonial France, is ably and authentically prepared. Don’t skip the appetizer; Akra, black-eyed pea fritters with a fiery tomato-shrimp sauce, is an excellent choice. The entrées are equally interesting with chicken and vegetarian dishes served with roasted root vegetables or rice. The tamarind and hibiscus juice is reason enough to dine here. The mood is relaxed, so be prepared to wait for your food, especially on busy nights. But if you’re lucky, visiting musicians will treat you to some authentic African drumming.
