Michael ‘Bao’ Huynh, the Vietnamese chef who sought to conquer Manhattan with both affordable and haute takes on the cuisine of his homeland, adds Southeast Asian barbecue to the city’s dining landscape with this no-frills East Village eatery. Fall-off-the-bone chicken hits the spot, as do the equally tender beef ribs (served with kimchi). There are also sandwiches (a barbecue version of the banh mi, of course) and noodle dishes, including mi quang, a pork-filled soup-like dish that hails from Hoi An on the central coast of Vietnam and not seen much outside of the region.
