Baoding Restaurant Review: Charlotte's sister city in China lends its name to this popular Southpark restaurant, a favorite among locals since 1993. Its warm atmosphere is derived from ample booth seating, deep purple walls and gold silk canopies. Veggie steamers with your choice of chicken, shrimp or scallops make for a nice lunch, while dinner selections such as salt and pepper shrimp and tangerine beef are among Baoding’s more serious offerings. Classic chicken and shrimp egg fu yong in brown gravy and seafood pan-fried noodles are also offered in the evening. Refreshing pineapple sorbet might make the best meal-ender. While most wines are American, consider pairing the New Zealand Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc with a seafood or chicken dish if it isn’t too spicy; otherwise, the Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling should get the nod. Craft beers, numerous Asian brews, and quite a few wines by the glass are available, too.
