Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar Restaurant Review: It's a little piece of Spain in downtown West Hartford where Barcelona offers a social setting to meet, greet, flirt and enjoy an extensive tapas menu made better thanks to the eclectic cocktail and wine offerings. Entrée choices are limited, and some, such as the classic paella, require a protracted preparation time, so it is easy to gravitate toward the grazing menu, which features specialty cheeses and meats, Spanish oysters and nearly three dozen tapas from a simple roasted garlic bulb to a crispy tuna belly encrusted in pistachios. We particularly enjoy the gambas al ajillo, shrimp sautéed in a spicy garlic-sherry sauce that we keep as a bread dip after the shrimp are long gone; and warm herbed goat cheese with wild mushrooms. For cocktails, try the SoNo Southerner (Rowan’s Creek bourbon, honey syrup, lemon juice). Alternatively, don't hesitate to order something from the wine bar. |
