The Barn at Blackberry Farm Restaurant Review

: Housed in a turn-of-the-century barn, this fine dining restaurant off the beaten path sources some of the sweetest heirloom produce and free-range livestock from the nearby Smoky Mountain range and beyond, much of the former culled from the property’s own garden. The real working farm features foods indigenous to the 4,200-acre backyard of Blackberry Farm. Starters like the potato and ramp salad comprising pickled ramp aïoli, hickory gastrique and fried quail egg tempt the palate, as do cocktail creations that charm with names that ring of the South, perhaps a Blackberry Bumpkin. Chef Joseph Lenn’s menu changes nightly, but you’re bound to find regionally influenced dishes --- think wood oven-roasted Guinea hen, cornbread pudding, collard greens and confit, or seared tilefish complemented by Carolina Gold rice. Desserts might include toasted marshmallow, crispy mousse, smoked ice cream and bacon graham. For the complete experience, opt for the seven-course tasting menu; ordering à la carte is also possible. A 200-page wine list that weaves in a cellar of small producer Rhône and Burgundy varietals reads like a storybook.
