The Basin Restaurant Review: The emphasis at The Basin is on fresh, local ingredients with an updated Mediterranean menu focusing mostly on Spain and Italy. Start with croquetas --- serrano ham, chicken and onion-béchamel rolled in breadcrumbs and fried until golden. Salads are classic and include the Ice “Burger” with blue cheese, green onions, lemon and pancetta; and a house rendition of the Caesar, substituting organic Little Gem lettuce for romaine. Entrées range from wild mushroom rigatoni to a fish special and a thick-cut New York steak. A small wine list and cocktails are available to wash it all down. The ambience has a charming, relaxed, small-town feel, and service is friendly. Enjoy dining al fresco on the patio under the canopy of one of California’s grand oak trees, estimated to be 200 years old and 120 feet high.
