The Basin Restaurant Review

: The Basin, long a charming Saratoga destination, features a Mediterranean menu focusing mostly on Spain and Italy. Start with croquetas --- serrano ham, chicken and onion béchamel rolled in breadcrumbs and fried until golden. Salads are classic, including a house Caesar substituting organic little gem lettuces for romaine. Entrées range from wild mushroom rigatoni to fish specials and thick-cut steaks. Wines and cocktails match the special-occasion ambience. Service is charming and friendly. Enjoy dining al fresco on the patio under the canopy of one of California’s grand oak trees, estimated to be 200-years old and 120-feet high. Try the panna cotta for dessert.
