THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bayview Barge Restaurant Review:
A water view is hard to come by in the area, despite Michigan's designation as Water Wonderland. This casual waterfront spot, however, is just a few feet from Lake St. Clair and offers an unobstructed view from virtually every table in the many-windowed dining room and, of course, from the 50-seat open-air deck that is popular as soon as the weather permits. The menu has some distinctive touches along with the standard ground round, pastas and fish 'n' chips. Indiana-style catfish, for instance, which has a spicy cornmeal coating, served whole, missing only the head. The contrast between the crunchy crust and delicate white flesh is a distinguishing feature of this dish. Another signature dish is pretzel-encrusted whitefish that is coated with Dijon mustard before being rolled in pretzel crumbs. The house steak fries are also notable. This is a modest setting with a bar atmosphere, and the wine list is virtually non-existent. It's a beer-drinking kind of place with friendly service all around.
