Beach House Restaurant at Lovers Point Restaurant Review: This hotspot offering views of Monterey Bay is jammed nightly and rightly so. Values start with the $9.90 sunset menu and continue with an accessible wine list that includes more than a dozen wines by the glass. Signature firecracker shrimp glisten with a sweet-and-spicy sauce studded with black and white sesame seeds, while the lightly seared sea scallop exudes a pleasant smokiness. Toasted walnut and Parmesan cream sauce on the ravioli adds just the right textural “punch” to the Marsala-infused mushroom filling. The chef’s special grouper with a Provencal sauce hits all the salty and tart high notes; salmon on spinach and black rice was beautiful, but paled in comparison. We enjoy the chocolate pot au crème with raspberries and the thin wedge of lemon tart on a crumbly graham cracker crust topped with just enough meringue. Service is unhurried but efficient, particularly given the high volume of business.
