THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Beak Street Restaurant Review:

Beak Street is the new name of the former Leith’s Soho, reflecting a change of ownership (now Nick Tarayan and the Kemps of the estimable Firmdale Hotels group). Leith’s Soho quickly became a popular institution; perhaps Beak Street will return to its exciting beginnings, rather than remain resting on its less-than-good value laurels, as it so far has done. Certainly their heart is in the right place: a note at the top of the menu encourages customers to ask for something ’really simple’, if that’s what is wanted, and they will do their best to produce it. Otherwise, choose from a starter of perhaps a light velouté of cèpes with a soft poached egg or their ever popular and excellent retro prawn cocktail. Mains include modish dishes like guinea fowl with sweetcorn and Parma ham and creamed cabbage, and braised pork belly with spiced, crab beignet and bok choy. Vegetarians swear by the cooking. The wine list is good; many are offered by the glass; service is helpful. Set 2-course lunch & 6pm-7pm £17.50, 3 courses £19.50.
