Beat Hotel Restaurant Review

: The hippie American brasserie known as Beat Hotel opened to much fanfare in Harvard Square. The sibling to the South End’s Beehive shows many similarities to its family lineage. Both feature live music nightly, an artisanal wine selection and hearty brasserie-style fare. Starters include pulled lamb nachos with apple salsa; the "Bohemian" platter, loaded with hummus, salads, pickles and cheese; and a vegetarian borscht soup. Heartier dishes include a tomato lasagna made with short ribs and the roast pork French dip. Vegans like the Inca bowl, loaded with heart-healthy vegetables like soybeans, kale, carrots and quinoa. We suggest the swordfish tacos filled with black beans and rice, topped with shredded cheddar and fiery salsa. Pair them with a glass of wine (available on tap) or a cocktail with a funny name like Granny Takes a Trip (ingredients include rye whiskey and sweet vermouth). Beat Hotel has a brunch every Saturday and Sunday with live jazz.
