THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bella Vista Restaurant Restaurant Review:
A roaring fire and sweeping views of the Bay and the East Bay hills set the scene for this continental venue. Classic starters include escargots, oysters Rockefeller or Kilpatrick and, from the cold side, sparkling Blue Point oysters on the half shell and prosciutto with melon. The food here is not groundbreaking, but it is well-executed. The Châteaubriand for two is served with swirls of mashed potatoes, turned vegetables and a béarnaise sauce. Other good choices include the filet of sole Florentine and veal saltimbocca. Caesar salads are freshly made at the table; even better is the toss of warm spinach and pancetta. Soufflés are the dessert of choice; they're light and not overly sweet. Entirely unexpected is the restaurant's impressive wine list, which features more than 600 wines.
