Bennett’s is not for barbecue purists, but for the ’cue-hound craving a quick fix, it offers a decent second choice, not to mention daily, all-you-can-eat specials The eatery does a respectable brand of Western-style ’cue with chewy ribs of beef and pork. Bones are hickory smoked and then basted and grilled; the sauce --- a semi-sweet hybrid of Western sweetness and Southern tang --- arrives on the side. Respectable sides like thick-with-meat beans round out the platters. Bennett’s also serves other down-home delights, from barbecued briskets and smoked chickens to steaks and after-supper comfort foods like peach cobbler à la mode.
