THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bennett's Barbecue Restaurant Review:
Barbecue purists may be quick to write off the multi-unit rib house as a cheap imitation of the real thing. But despite the chain status of this Texas-style rib house, Bennetts serves up a respectable brand of western-style Q. The main attractions in this recreated roadhouse are the chewy ribs of beef and pork. Bones are hickory smoked and then basted and grilled, the sauce---a semi-sweet hybrid of western sweetness and southern tang---arrives on the side. Respectable sides of cornmeal and thick-with-meat beans round out the platters. Bennetts also serves other down-home delights, from barbecued briskets and smoked chickens to steaks and after-supper comfort foods like peach cobbler a la mode. For the Q-hound craving a quick fix, Bennetts is a decent second choice.
