| Bennett’s is not for barbecue purists, but for the Q-hound craving a quick fix, it offers a decent second choice. The eatery does a respectable brand of Western-style Q with chewy ribs of beef and pork. Bones are hickory smoked and then basted and grilled; the sauce---a semi-sweet hybrid of Western sweetness and Southern tang---arrives on the side. Respectable sides of cornmeal and thick-with-meat beans round out the platters. Bennett’s also serves other down-home delights, from barbecued briskets and smoked chickens to steaks and after-supper comfort foods like peach cobbler à la mode. |
