Besh Steak Restaurant Review: This chic, inviting establishment keeps John Besh firmly installed as one of the most talented, innovative Louisiana chefs anywhere, but casino fare may not be his forté. The menu boasts emblems of conspicuous culinary consumption, such as caviar and some surf ‘n’ turfers that exceed the $50 mark. All of this pricey cuisine is complemented by a strong wine list that favors hearty California reds. But Besh’s offerings do not always measure up. The open kitchen turns out some worthy 40-day dry-aged New York strips, American Kobe beef and mammoth 30-ounce rib-eyes. Service and food are inconsistent, which may not be a problem for infrequent visitors, but won't please locals. You’re more likely to find New Orleanians just across the street at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. We do recommend the molten dark chocolate cake with brandied cherries for dessert.
