Bette's Oceanview Diner Restaurant Review: Bette's is a good spot for pancakes, poached eggs and a variety of gratifying omelets --- all proudly made from scratch the old-fashioned way. It's elevated comfort food: meatloaf, bockwurst, banana-rum-soufflé pancakes, lox scrambles, fish sandwiches. Corned beef hash and waffles are especially popular. What with Berkeley traffic, parking and the wait for a table, a visit here is rarely a quick outing. Relax and enjoy the sophisticated atmosphere of Fourth Street --- Berkeley's version of Rodeo Drive --- or try grabbing a seat at the counter for the authentic Bette's experience.
