| In a refined, subterranean space, BeWon offers a quiet escape from the bustle of Portland's hippest shopping street, NW 23rd Ave. This distinctive Korean restaurant, named for a secret garden where royalty once dined, serves traditional fare enhanced with a modern sensibility. Novices are encouraged to begin with han jung shik, a prix-fixe classic meal of seven courses, including such unusual dishes as hobak-juk, a pumpkin rice pudding, and japchae (fried sweet potato noodles). An option for the prix-fixe includes five wine pairings. Or choose one of the many Korean rice wines or beers. Without question, BeWon invites experimentation and meets expectations. |
