 This link in the Bice chain of upscale Italian bistros that spans the globe is not your average hotel restaurant. Polished wood and marble floors and graceful flower arrangements give this restaurant an upscale air --- but nothing about the place is stuffy. The waiters are attentive and the dining room is relatively quiet, even when it's full. There's a small selection of wines by the glass, but the real stars are available only by the bottle. Though the menu changes seasonally, entrée selections can include oven-roasted lamb chops, braised veal shank, grilled swordfish over caponata salad and a surf ‘n’ turf of beef tenderloin and lobster tail. Pasta dishes are simple; try the pappardelle with mozzarella, tomatoes and basil, or the fettuccine with shrimp and hot chili flakes. Other carb-laden delights include saffron risotto and potato gnocchi. Appetizers like a generous antipasto platter with dry cured meats, olives, fruits and cheese, and a caprese salad round out the traditional menu. Whatever you do, save room for the soft chocolate soufflé cake served with vanilla ice cream topped with chestnut honey, or try the classic tiramisu.
