Big Kitchen Cafe Restaurant Review: Long before the hip decided to settle here, Judy Forman started serving hearty breakfasts and lunches at Big Kitchen Cafe. Photos and eclectic artwork line the walls, including shots of Big Kitchen's most famous former dishwasher, Whoopi Goldberg, who has a breakfast named after her. A dedicated crowd, from tattooed bikers and fashionistas to grannies and young families, flocks to this place for oversize omelets, fluffy pancakes, house-baked muffins and coffeecake. We like the tofu rancheros; "AC3" omelet stuffed with avocado, cream cheese and chives; and raisin-bread french toast. Lunch means big salads, homemade soups, chili, meatloaf sandwiches and tasty burgers. The place is small and crowded, but the mood is so cheerful that no one seems to mind. We like the friendly staff and strong community vibe. |
