THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Big Smoke Burger Restaurant Review:
Big Smoke’s Chelsea outpost is the U.S. flagship of the Canadian chain of casual but quality burger eateries. Big Smoke confidently asserts that “fast food” is not a dirty word (or, in this case, words). Order one of a handful of burgers or just go with the signature Big Smoke burger topped with smoked cheddar, tomato, caramelized onions and horseradish mayo. Also good are the jalapeño-laced Crazy Burger and the more delicate lamb burger. The patties are cooked well done by default; ask for medium rare and you’ll get something more like medium. Fries are thick and onion rings are crispy. And, given this is a Canadian burger spot, it’s no surprise that poutine --- fries smothered in gravy --- is on the menu, adding to a delightful, if not high-calorie, meal. A large selection of beer is available.
