THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Billy Quon's Volcano Grill & Mai Tai Bar Restaurant Review:

Billy Quon Lee's love for entertaining, island-style restaurants lives on at this small 50-seater set at the very end of Carmel Valley Village. Inside, dark hardwood floors and fan palms set the tone, as does the intimate back deck, cushy with a few choice love seats. Starters include contemporary, tiki-style dishes. Kobe beef gets patted down into sliders and sweetened with a pineapple wallop and served with a generous helping of sweet potato fries. A slathering of plum sauce is seared into baby-back ribs. A crab sushi roll is coated in crushed macadamias, its fruity foil a raspberry coulis. All dishes---even an impossibly old-school lobster-and-three-cheese ravioli---come snaked with new-Polynesian stylings, in this case baby bok choy. It isn't all mai tais at the bar---there are plenty of other colorful and slushy refreshments from which to choose.
