| Most tribute restaurants are like tribute bands, a pale imitation of the original. But Bing Crosby's is a terrific place, with icy martinis, cool piano music and solid all-American food. The restaurant spans 360 seats in four seating areas: a lounge with a piano bar, the Oscar Room, the Country Club Room and the Wine Room. The restaurant has all the panache of stars like Crosby, who made film after film and hit after hit record that topped the charts. Katherine Crosby, his widow, is one of the partners and contributed much of the memorabilia. As with most contemporary American restaurants, look for Asian touches on chef Frank Palmer's menu. One of our favorites is the Crosby Clam Bake, a mélange of clams, mussels and Louisiana-style sausage in a savory broth. Desserts will please the eye as well as the palate. Bing's is a keeper. |
