Bistro on the Avenue Restaurant Review: The outdoor seating at this Westmount eatery is what sets the place above the rest, giving it a Parisian café feel with New York style. The laid-back spirit, however, is pure Montréal, and makes it one of the more welcoming places in the neighborhood. Service is efficient and food is familiarly French bordering on classy pub grub. At lunch, try a simple smoked turkey sandwich with Swiss on challah bread or a vegetarian omelet with Brie. At dinner, the restaurant steps it up a notch with tender steaks in homemade black peppercorn sauce and tarragon chicken with white wine and shallots. Be sure to check out the reasonably priced wine list. Or opt for one of the cocktails left over from the Sex and the City era: Cosmopolitans and lychee martinis.
