Bistro Campagne Restaurant Review: Campagne has stayed true to its original form over the years to remain a simple, organic bistro --- not to mention a neighborhood favorite. Its cozy, woody décor and compact, mostly French menu wisely stays affordable --- a fact that proves pleasing for singles and young families. When dining here, we gravitate toward the vichyssoise, duck confit, caramelized onion strudel and trout in caper-brown butter, all of which are delightful. Another top pick is the braised beef cheeks with house-made pappardelle. For dessert, only the crème brûlée or pot de crème au chocolat will do. Decent wines, a nice selection of craft beers and helpful, friendly service round out the picture. The walled garden is one of the loveliest in town, and a close proximity to the Old Town School of Folk Music means that musicians occasionally stop by to play and sing --- for their supper or at least the joy of performing.
