THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Bistro at Candy Bar Restaurant Review:

If you like eclectic, here is eclectic for you: The Bistro at Candy Bar captures a 1940s feel with period music in a funky forum featuring padded blue walls, lipstick red banquettes and a very Village clientele. They eat well, inexpensively. Chef/owner Monika Caha retains a few Austrian dishes from the time that this space was Kaffeehaus, but she now focuses on a pleasing roster of contemporary, globally accented creations. Grilled apple-chicken sausage with lentil salad is a fine start. Seared yellowfin tuna is a United Nations of an appetizer with rösti potato cake, miso-mirin sauce, and Asian herb salad with pickled ginger vinaigrette. We love her six-hour braised pork with potato-dill ragout and haricot verts. For all that modernity, we’re still fans of the weinerschnitzel and the pear-apple strudel with cinnamon ice cream.
