THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bistrot Royal Restaurant Review:
Located in the same place as the owners’ original Bastille restaurant (moved several blocks away), Bistrot Royal boasts a setting that’s much more regal and the focus is on high-end French food. Traditionalists can start their meal with the cheese-enriched French onion soup, which at lunchtime is a prelude to such classics as the croque monsieur. Of course, the kitchen offers its burger on brioche with pommes frites. In the evening, patrons can begin with the escargots or pâté de campagne before launching into such entrées as braised chicken, sautéed pork chops with mustard cornichons sauce, flat-iron steak, and a duck leg confit with Madeira sauce. Desserts include a lemon tart and profiteroles au chocolat, and all may be paired with dessert wines. Brunch selections follow with quiches, mussels and the croque madame.
