Blimpie Restaurant Review: Named for the blimp-like, meat-stuffed subs that it has become famous for, the Hoboken, New Jersey-based chain was founded by three friends in 1964 with a passion for fresh, deli-style sandwiches. While classic offerings like the Blimpie Best (ham, salami, cappacola, prosciuttini and provolone with tomatoes, lettuce, onion, vinegar, oil and oregano) and the Roast Beef and Provolone remain favorites, the restaurant also offers wraps, paninis and lighter fare for the health-conscious, including the Asian Teriyaki Chicken Sub and the Veggie Salad Sub---both with under 400 calories and six grams of fat.
