 Once you wend your way through the adjacent health club (Sports Club/LA), you'll find capital-D Dining at little-b blu, a clean aerie of an eatery---all brushed metals, natural light, curvy banquettes and cool angles---overlooking an ever-, shall we say, colorful, stretch of Downtown Crossing from a few stories up. If all that sounds a bit idiosyncratic, well, it is; blu is not for the fine-dining traditionalist. The menu confirms it, full of funky touches that amount to conversation pieces---orange oil, bourbon soak, or rose milk foam, perhaps; at their best, they ensure said conversation sparkles---especially since the once aside-worthy prices have dipped slightly. Then again, with baby sib Rocca commanding all the attention these days, the kitchen isn’t always at its best; in that light, the bang for the buck is best at the bar, where fab fried mozzarella sticks and sticky fried duck wings go down easy with spiced-up cocktails and a view of the toned beauties who stream in and out from the gym.
