Blue Canyon Kitchen & Tavern Restaurant Review: Blue Canyon Kitchen & Tavern --- built to look like a timber lodge --- is divided into five rooms and features polished blond wood, bare wood tables, rustic chairs, a stone fireplace and high ceilings. While the space itself is huge, it feels like the kind of place where you’re encouraged to kick off your boots and warm your toes by the fire. This rustic, homespun atmosphere spills over to the menu which features hearty American fare with casual nods to modern techniques and ingredients. Start with the lobster, crawfish, tomato bisque or share the cast iron cheese bake, a gooey mélange of Fontina, Asiago and goat cheese served with crunchy bread. Then, go for either the moist gingersnap crusted tilapia served with butternut squash ravioli and a sweet apple cider glaze or the bacon-crusted pork chop. Desserts change frequently, but our favorite is the BC S’mores, a rich graham cracker peanut bottom with a chocolate peanut center and a homemade toasted marshmallow on top. The wine list is serviceable, as are the after dinner drink and martini selections. On Sundays, Blue Canyon features a gut-busting brunch buffet with everything from scrambled eggs with cheese and cinnamon rolls, to pancakes with strawberry butter and a raw bar.
