| Blue Hen brings together two trends: first, the transformation of Eagle Rock from an obscure bohemian hangout to a gentrified L.A. neighborhood; and second, the acceptance of Vietnamese cuisine beyond the ethnic enclaves of the San Gabriel Valley and the OC's Little Saigon. Blue Hen takes the essence of Vietnamese cooking and Americanizes it with organic ingredients and laid-back seasonings. Nonetheless, you'll find the classic pho (traditional beef noodle soup)---made here with organic chicken---as well as curries and a satisfying chicken bánh mì sandwich with turmeric fries. With dark wood tables and banquettes, colorful abstract paintings and funky chandeliers, this cheerful storefront eatery has a hip sense of style. |
