THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Blue Ocean Restaurant Review:
Unless someone tells you---or you live in the ’hood---you might never stumble across this stylish sushi bar. Its strip mall location is partly to blame, though it also affords a boon: free parking in a lot. The brightly hued space, all industrial cool, has sleek, high-backed chairs and roomy, semi-circular banquettes, making it perfect for lounging over hip, creative signature rolls---some soy paper-wrapped---as well as small plates. Among the standouts is the tartare sampler, each of the four distinctly different preparations served atop crunchy wontons. As-fresh-as-it-gets sashimi (including killer fatty tuna) shouldn’t be overlooked, and what’s coming from the kitchen (sweet-savory short ribs, in particular) is quite good. The menu is huge, and many options are available by the half-order, so sharing is an affordable affair. Plus, on Tuesdays, all-you-can-eat sushi is $39.99 per person.
