| Blue Ridge Grill takes the inspiration for its name and its architecture from the Southeastern mountains that frame north Georgia’s spectacular landscape. Reliably good for lunch, Blue Ridge Grill presents a wide-ranging menu. Soups vary daily but are always on target, especially the gumbo. (But we still miss the hoppin’ john that was so good years ago.) Grilled whole Georgia trout is moist and flavorful, but we don’t understand the horseradish-crusted grouper with grapefruit butter sauce that seems to have become the signature dish. Crab cakes are full-bore crab. Salmon will come medium rare if so ordered, although the pink requested for the pork chop had no relationship to that color whatsoever, as it came undercooked but was whisked away and returned closer to correct. The veggie side dishes include good corn soufflé. Vastly improved, the wine list is wide-ranging, and offers many very fine values that are appropriate with this food. Case in point: The 2005 Writer’s Block Grenache for just $35, which is beautiful with all of the above fare. |
