| Blue fits right into the neighborhood offering American comfort food in a diner setting with just enough urban sophistication injected into both to make it all enjoyable. The small diner gets a postmodern makeover with the addition of metal counters, rough concrete walls, distressed paint and an accommodating staff running about in industrial blue shirts. American classics like chicken potpie, soul satisfying meat loaf and baked pasta dishes rule the menu. Most items, though, include a twist. The very green salad boasts a pesto-inspired dressing loaded with herbs. Mashed potatoes are spiked with garlic. Chili is spiced to get your attention and fortified with flavor by two types of beer. The steak accompaniment of grilled asparagus is topped with a melting dollop of chipotle butter. Best of all, Blue is a diner that offers a wines-by-the-glass list loaded with approachable and recognizable Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and more. |
