Here’s a suburban destination that has it all: blinking lights, loads of oversize TV monitors, a casual bar scene, occasional live music but plenty of jukebox tunes, and a jazzy décor that looks part-Vegas/part-backwoods bar. But, of course, you’ve come for the food, and that may disappoint the barbecue ribs fans among you---not very meaty, the ribs also lack that finger-lickin’ goodness we all hunt for. And if you are a Southerner you might not warm up to the not-quite-crispy catfish or the doughy hush puppies. There’s plenty else to try, such as chopped pork, beef brisket, roast chicken, and assorted burgers and sandwiches; even the kids have their own special menu that includes chicken fingers and mac ‘n’ cheese. Although a banana pudding makes sense in a Southern-style restaurant, you might want to finish up with the kitchen’s sweet potato-pecan casserole.
