Bob Taylor's Ranch House Restaurant Review: Since 1955, this Western-themed restaurant has been serving sizzling steaks to legions of fans who want a get-away-from-it-all experience. Western memorabilia including John Wayne posters, a barbed wire collection, saddles, a decorative collection of spurs owned by a number of Hollywood cowboys and a Jim Beam bottle collection cover the walls of the large cocktail lounge and bar. The Cajun shrimp scampi and Ranch House chili are among popular starters. Hearty sandwiches are spotlighted for lunch. Garlic cheese toast and soup or salad precede all dinners. Among choices of entrée accompaniments, we love the Ranch House potatoes---hash browns cooked with mushrooms and Jack, cheddar, Parmesan and Fontina cheeses. We like the rice pilaf with the delicious sea scallops sautéed in Chardonnay sauce. Smoked prime rib is a longtime favorite. Thick, aged steaks are prepared on the exhibition mesquite grill. If you devour the entire 32-ounce New York cut, dessert is on the house. Go for the sublime tiramisu or Key lime pie.
