THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Bombay Bread Bar Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: With bright colors and plenty of brilliant murals, Floyd Cardoz’s The Bombay Bread Bar takes its inspiration from Bombay's street food scene. Pop art, marigold malas hanging from the ceiling, rainbow-hued place settings, and portraits of animals dressed like businessmen give the place a light-hearted vibe. There are two bars: one where you can watch the bartenders shake up creative cocktails, and the bread bar, overlooking the wood-burning oven that serves as the heart of the restaurant.

Likes: Breads; festive atmosphere; chutneys; peppered lamb sandwich.
Dislikes: Restaurant can get loud.

Food & Drinks: The Bombay Bread Bar is named after bread, and a meal here should absolutely involve a selection of the stuffed naans, kulchas, bhel puri and paratha that arrive hot from the oven. The laccha parantha offers great textural contrast; it’s alternately doughy and crispy and even better with mint-cilantro or tamarind chutney. Small plates, like mushroom upma, black pepper shrimp from the tandoor and Goan crab cakes, are ideal for sharing. If you want something to yourself, a sandwich of lamb, cucumber raita and mustard mashed potatoes packed into naan is rich yet balanced. For dessert, there’s caramelized grilled pineapple or a donut soaked in rum syrup, served with pistachio cream. The wine list features options by the glass, as well as bottles from France, California and Greece. Cocktails include the Bollywood Swingin’, a concoction of Beefeater gin, bay leaf, lime and passionfruit.
