Book Ends Cafe Restaurant Review: Sitting high atop Antioch University on its roof deck with peek-a-boo views to the nearby ocean, Book Ends Café takes a little hunting to find (up a narrow staircase or via the elevator inside Antioch). The menu is limited to simple sandwiches, coffee and parfaits, as well as healthy salads. The small interior is basic, with only a few chairs, but it's the outdoor patio that's the place to hang out on lazy days. We like the brisket banh mi with pickled carrots, radishes, cilantro, smoked aïoli and a jalapeño vinaigrette dressing. Also worth checking out are the hefty lemony chickpea salad with its avocado, lettuce and tahini-harissa dressing; and the tasty ham sandwich, which uses Niman Ranch ham, Emmental cheese, arugula, Dijon mustard and chive spread. You can also buy everything by the pound to take home.
