Border Cafe Restaurant Review:

This busy Harvard Square hangout, which is popular with college students and locals alike, offers heaping portions of inexpensive Tex-Mex and Cajun eats. Everyone likes the complimentary warm homemade tortilla chips covered in salt, served with a side of chunky salsa and washed down with a top-shelf margarita. From the overflowing platters of nachos with black beans, pico de gallo and melted cheese to sizzling Rio Grande fajitas and blackened catfish prepared New Orleans-style, you don’t need an Ivy League degree to calculate the value. Stick with the comfort food plates like the shrimp and crawfish quesadillas, marinated chicken enchiladas, soft tacos, and corn and black bean empanadas. There are also burgers, a nice selection of salads and vegetarian dishes. No desserts are available. While the service can be underwhelming at times at this location, the young 20-somethings who flock here never seem to notice. Whether you come for the tequila-infused drinks or a quick Tex-Mex fix, it’s almost impossible not to have a good time.
