THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Borrone MarketBar Restaurant Review:

The Borrone family, long known on the Peninsula for their eponymous café, is behind this upscale, Italian-styled deli and café with dinner table service next door, helmed by son-in-law Josh Pebbles. The small space offers casual elegance distinct on the Peninsula: a gleaming deli case and marble counters are filled with take-away-ready offerings, fresh baked goods and provisions (some of the best honey we have had), while the bar has drinks, an intriguing wine list and a variety of West Coast oysters. The outdoor seating area is optimal for enjoying a selection of these oysters, always fresh in our visits, with a glass of Muscadet at work-day's end. House-made items range from salumi to pasta: Pebbles' black spaghetti topped with wild prawns is rich with garlic, oil and Parmigiano. Potato soup is dense and earthy with crispy leeks and black garlic adding texture and character. Cheese boards are thoughtful and well-accented and wine pairings are creative: we're not sure we've had dry Furmint outside of Hungary, but it works well here matched with lamb meatballs. Strawberry shortcake on house-made biscuit only gains from the fresh Chantilly cream that is "shaken not stirred."
