BOSTON RESTAURANT NEWS

Openings

Boston Nightlife Ventures has opened Wink & Nod in the former Noche space in the South End. The spot has been completely renovated and now is more reminiscent of a "craft cocktail speakeasy" with its loungy atmosphere, sumptuous couches and drinks named after musicians. As for the food, black pasta with baby octopus and super yaki served in a mason jar is the norm. Dinner nightly. Wink & Nod, 3 Appleton St., Boston, MA 02116, 617-482-0117.

Headed up by chef/owner Todd Winer, Pastoral is located in an industrial mill style space complete with brick front and high ceilings. The focus is on wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, hearty pasta dishes (like ricotta dumplings) and classic dishes like a daily roasted whole fish. Dinner nightly. Pastoral, 345 Congress St., Boston, MA 02210, 617-345-0005.

Legal Sea Foods has added another restaurant to its roster --- this one in Downtown Crossing. Located across the street from the Boston Opera House, the concept at Legal Crossing is similar to all Legal's --- fresh seafood in every form, including tempura mussels, cast iron seared calamari and lobster soup. Main dishes include citrus grey sole, rainbow trout almondine and everything tuna. Lunch & Dinner daily. Legal Crossing, 558 Washington St., Boston, MA 02111, 617-692-8888.
