Botanero Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Situated on an accessible corner site at Rockville’s King Farm Village Center, Botanero highlights wine and wine events along with American food featured as small plates, and patrons can share many without breaking the bank.

Food & Drinks: Much of the kitchen’s output sounds like standard fare, but the chef plays around with the composition; for example, fried baby potatoes come with caramelized onions and spicy yellow aïoli, and the tuna tartare is complemented by watermelon radish, fried wonton chips and black sesame seeds. Other lunch and dinner entrées include duck confit with roasted duck leg and parsnip purée and beer-braised beef short ribs. If you luck out, you could brunch on somewhat nontraditional dishes: shrimp and grits gets its kick from Spanish chorizo; the Botanero burger sports tomato jam and a fried egg; and the side of beignets is a sweet delight with strawberry compote and sprinkles of confectioner’s sugar and cinnamon. For dessert, enjoy the blueberry cheesecake if it’s available. Note that brunch has its own wine accompaniments, but the lunch and dinner wine list is rather extensive.
