Despite the fact that this Big Easy-theme eatery happens to be smack in the center of the tourist-packed 46th Street restaurant row, the restaurant still manages to transcend the cheesiness of a theme restaurant. Perhaps because the food is about as authentic as you can get without actually getting on a New Orleans-bound airplane. So, take a seat on the balcony overlooking the street (during the warm weather months, it's the best place to sit) and indulge in the seafood platter, a huge plate piled with fried shrimp, catfish and oysters (the latter are standouts). With fries a part of the mix, it's a meal for three. The fried alligator, presented in little nuggets and wading in a spicy oil, are better than you'd think. The red bean dip, accompanied by thin tortilla chips, is like a hearty chili dip (which is not a bad thing), and the pepper-encrusted duck, slathered in a semi-sweet pomegranate honey, hits the spot.
