THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Boutique Eat Shop Restaurant Review:
The name of this place brings to mind a specialty shop of sorts, perhaps one for the quintessential gourmet. Given the modern, even, at times, exhibitionist art for sale on the walls, a darkly lit interior with eclectic trappings, the sleek and sultry vibe, and, above all, a finely executed menu of Asian-inspired fare, Boutique Eat Shop is in many ways exactly that. Starters like the seared scallops on a bed of creamy mixed mushroom risotto make for a nice pairing of delicately sweet and pungent flavors. In contrast, the braised pork belly could have benefited from more tenderness. Among the large plates, chef Charles Cho excelled with the Chilean sea bass and the lamb chops, the former buttery and mild and with just the right texture, a dish that works well with the Philip III, a BES ginger vodka concoction; the latter was tender, juicy and served medium rare, complemented by an Argentinean Malbec from the Mendoza region. A trio of sorbets provides a sweet but not cloying finish.
