Brandl Restaurant Review: “Lazy lobster” is the long-running signature dish at this winning restaurant. Chef Chris Brandl poaches the crustacean in a light butter sauce infused with vanilla, then serves it over creamy asparagus risotto. But it’s not the only reason diners flock to Brandl. There are also the Brandl crab cakes and the unique crab balls --- three of them to a plate, making a memorable appetizer served with pickled mango, sweet chili and chive mayonnaise. While seafood is notable, so are the steaks, especially the bone-in filet mignon. Pretty, rust-toned décor has touches of French toile to create an upscale ambience. Lingering over a dark chocolate soufflé outdoors on the patio overlooking a waterfall and the brick-paved courtyard is especially nice on a balmy summer’s eve.
