Brasileirissimo Polanco Restaurant Review:

Carnivores with heroic appetites will want to try Mexico City’s first and, despite various imitators, still one of its best Brazilian churrascarias. The first course is a creditable beef broth and a fried empanada stuffed with cheese and corn. This is followed by a particularly Brazilian salad bar: Brazilian in that it is full of things like sliced eggs laden with mayonnaise, boiled cauliflower liberally doused with mayonnaise, and some unidentifiable pink substance drowned in mayonnaise, with a few desultory lettuce leaves scattered almost as an afterthought. The meats---there are fifteen different cuts in all---include flavorful sirloin and filet mignon, juicy pot roast, tender flank steak and a lusciously fatty, untrimmed tip of beef called picaña. Apart from beef there is Argentine chorizo sausage, turkey wrapped in bacon, and chicken hearts. If you have any room left after all that, a selection of petits fours is included in the reasonable prix-fixe. Service is enthusiastic without being overbearing, and apart from the caipirinha cocktails and tropical fruit drinks, there is a wine list that includes bottles from Spain, Mexico and South America at reasonable prices.
