Brassiere S&P, named for adjacent Sansome & Pine Streets, is one of a few Financial District restaurants offering all-day dining. The open and inviting space, bordered by windows, is equally appropriate for business clientele, casual walk-by traffic and hotel guests. There's also a white Italian marble bar and small lounge area. Executive chef Adam Mali's menu embraces a California-local ethic, starting with the raw bar's regionally sourced oysters. Dungeness crab and bay shrimp Louis is fresh and flavorful, while the farro spaghetti with clams will help with getting those recommended daily servings of whole grains. A popular choice is the Fallon Hills Ranch burger with house-made pickles, caramelized onions and salsa crudo, served with hand-cut Kennebec fries. Chef Mali is also involved in the pastry department, offering desserts such as Meyer lemon cheesecake and butterscotch budino with caramel sauce. The iPad wine and bar list offers a well thought out, global array of wines that can be sorted by portion, origin and type. Gin takes center stage among the spirits with its own menu heading, Project G&T, featuring variations on gin and tonics, and even a tasting flight of the classic cocktail. Staff is attentive and happy to customize items to accommodate vegetarian or vegan requirements.
