This sturdy and worthy old-timer seems like the prototype for the casual kabob eatery. Although lacking charm, it more than compensates with its tender lamb and kubideh kabobs and homemade hummus, a dish that in some hands can emerge overpowered with garlic. The kabobs, cooked to order over gas flames while your bread bakes in the corner clay oven, have made the restaurant's reputation. But the menu includes other specialties as well: if you time your visit right, you can satisfy a bigger appetite with hearty dizi, a traditional Persian lamb stew that includes everything but the kitchen sink.
